Work With Me 1 on 1

1x1 PRIVATE SESSIONS

The process of benzo/psychiatric drug cessation is a multi-faceted and emotional experience. Nobody should have to go through it alone. It can be extremely scary because of the many symptoms that creep up and catch you by surprise. This can exacerbate the fear that is already present and send you spiraling quickly. My life’s purpose and goal is to help you overcome your fears, accept the process, and grow past this chapter so that you can create a beautiful life on the other side of psychiatric drug damage. I will help you to create a path forward that aligns with your values, spirituality, desires, and needs.

Testimonials

  • "Working with Dan from Philosophical Fishing for the past few months has been greatly beneficial for me. For those of us going through psychiatric drug withdrawal, it can be so hard to find someone to talk to that truly understands. Dan not only understands, but he has gone through it and came out the other side. He is compassionate, has great insight, and is relatable. If you are struggling to find someone to talk to about the difficulties we experience in withdrawal, I would highly recommend Dan."

  • "Dan has and is helping guide me through the darkest of benzo withdrawal, and with his coaching, I am building the tolls I need to stay sober. I have been working with him for the past 6-8 months and it is the best decision I have ever made. I will be celebrating one year sober/benzo free thanks to Dan and his community. He is easy to talk with, understanding, and cares about your well-being. If you are serious about getting help, Dan is great to have in your corner because he has been through it, come out the other side, and has the wisdom to help you navigate your way to living your life again, drug-free. Don't be afraid to reach out for help."

  • "My period of benzodiazepine recovery has been marked by a number of critical moments, one of which was the day I first connected with Dan. Through his extensive knowledge and gentle communication approach, I was given the confidence I needed to thrive in life while I let my body and mind recover."

  • "I have been struggling terribly with psych drug and benzo tolerance for over 4 years. I live in the UK and reached out to all the mental health services possible. Unfortunately, none had any clue what I was going through. Even my doctor who I have been with for over 20 years suggested I increase my doses; I did, and it only made things worse. After years of being on all the Facebook groups and reading the horror stories, I realized there was too much information which was full of opposing views. I had no idea where to turn and felt I was doomed, until I happened to see one of Dan's YouTube videos. I have been working with him 2 months and his calm, natural way of speaking, along with his personal experience and knowledge have really helped me to just focus on what I need to do and to cut out the cacophony of opinions about benzodiazepine withdrawal splattered all over the internet. I highly recommend Dan mainly because of his integrity and honesty. He has given me hope.

  • "Working with Dan has been a game changer in my benzo taper and healing journey. Dan truly understands what it feels like to be withdrawing from a benzodiazepine. Over the past 3 months working with Dan and implementing several of his strategies in my recovery, I have seen such a positive shift not only in coping with the symptoms, but the overall outlook of this recovery process. Dan is compassionate, knowledgeable, and deeply cares for those he helps."

 FAQs

  • Great question! I was on some type of psych med consistently for 17 years including: zoloft, pristique, buspar, lexapro, effexor, propranolol, gabapentin, xanax, ativan, klonopin, zubsolv, lamictal, valium, and vyvanse. At the end of my journey with medications I was taking 11 pills per day and I was absolutely miserable. The turning point for me came when I was at my rock bottom in a hospital psych ward where I had a spiritual experience that radically changed the course of my life. Today, I live completely medication/drug free and have a peace in my heart that, at one time, I could only dream about.

  • Absolutely! Although I do not make tapering plans for people, I will work with you emotionally, spiritually, and mentally, to navigate through troubling issues you may have during your tapering journey. I am honored to be a part of this process with you.

  • Yes! Witnessing someone that you love who has been harmed by medication is devastating to witness. You may be at a loss on how to best help them and this creates a lot of fear for you, as well. I often say; “one cannot pour from an empty cup.” You may need guidance and help during this process too, in order to maximize the benefits that you can offer your loved one.

  • The content of calls varies each time I speak with someone. Since there is no “one-size-fits-all” method of recovery that applies to everyone, I meet each person where they’re at and hold a space for them to express themselves, find out what their main struggles are, and work with them to find solutions that best fit their unique circumstances.

  • Yes they are! I love speaking with people about exploring the spiritual aspect of healing and recovery. All religions, spiritual ideas, viewpoints, and beliefs are welcomed and encouraged. Conversely, if you are someone who leans agnostic or atheist, I welcome and embrace your perspective as well. I have been on both sides of the fence and everywhere in between, so I am very flexible around these issues.

  • 100%, Yes! Many people(myself included) have taken years to heal from the catastrophic effects of medications. It’s not at all uncommon to have symptoms wax and wane, and to heal very slowly over a period of time. As symptoms fall away, you may be confronted with new obstacles and challenges, as life doesn’t stop just because you’ve been damaged. As time goes on, you may become overly frustrated and depressed because you feel that you’re not healing as fast as you’d like. I’ve experienced these challenges myself, and have developed tools and strategies that will help you overcome this chapter of your healing journey.
